About our Club

Established on the 11th of December 1978 with 18 founding members, the Niagara Woodcarvers Club now boasts more than 100 members, known as the Wood Knots, who are passionate about the art of woodcarving.

The members of the Niagara Woodcarvers Club meet ten times each year. The regular monthly meetings allow the members to network as well as share techniques and resources about the craft. Resource speakers are also invited from time to time. The group welcomes visitors during these meetings.

Each spring, the club organizes and produces an annual woodcarving show and competition that also features raffles, exhibits and demonstrations. Carving supplies, tools, and instructional materials are also sold during the event.

Membership to the Niagara Woodcarvers Club is inclusive of subscription to the association’s official publication. Seminars such as basic and advanced woodcarving classes are also conducted several times each year.

To foster camaraderie among its members, the club also hosts bi-annual social gatherings, usually in the months of June and December.

As part of its advocacy, club members also take part in community carving projects and volunteer in local events. One of the past events sponsored by the club is an activity that introduced the art to more than a thousand kids.
